Motor
Installation
|
|
NOTE:
THESE INSTRUCTIONS ARE FOR HUBBEL & VON
WEISE MOTORS
| SPECIAL
NOTE: Before installing
motor, check length of push tube
shaft. Motors are sent out in the
down cycle shut off. For brown
lift 3000 Series frame measurement
should be 13-1/4 inches from the
front portion of gear casing to
the tip of the push tube. Black
4000 Series frame will measure
13-3/4 inches. These are the
approximate lengths motors should
be when chair is in full recline.
Minor adjustments may have to be
made by turning the push tube left
or right manually to achieve full
recline of lift of chair. |
REPLACING MOTOR ASSEMBLY
1.
If possible, raise chair approximately half
way to raised position.
2. Unplug chair motor from receptacle.
3. Push chair forward onto its footrest
exposing bottom of chair and lift frame.
4. Disconnect motor pigtail from extension
on lift frame at quick release. Remove all
wire clamps or Tywraps.
5. Disconnect push tube from recline bar by
removing hair pin and clevis pin.
6. While supporting motor, remove hair pin
from clevis pin, then pull clevis pin out
from motor lift frame. Remove motor.
INSTALLATION
1.
Align back of motor to back part of lift
frame, replace clevis pin into motor and
frame, then hair pin.
2. Replace wire clamps, reconnect pigtail to
extension on lift frame.
3. Untape push tube from dust cover on motor
assembly.
4. Plug motor power cord into wall outlet.
5. Hold push tube firmly (not dust cover),
push up-switch on hand wand until push tube
hole aligns with recline bar. Replace clevis
pins washers and hair pin.
6. Place chair back in upright position and
run chair through full cycle.
PLEASE
NOTE: Minor adjustments may have to
be made to achieve full recline or lift. See
resetting procedure for motor assembly in
this manual. Take note for black or brown
frame settings.
RESETTING
MOTOR ASSEMBLY PRESENTLY IN LIFT CHAIR
1.
If possible have chair in its sitting
position.
2. Push chair on its back and lift footrest
exposing front of lift frame and push tube
on motor assembly.
3. Remove hair pin then clevis pin from push
tube and recline bar.
4. While holding dust cover lightly (plastic
sleeve) push paddle switch towards down on
hand wand until motor shuts off. Replace
clevis pin in push tube only.
5. Turn push tube manually down clockwise
until worm gear bumps clevis pin.
6. Once worm gear hits clevis pin, manually
turn push tube 2 complete turns
counter-clockwise for brown frame LM3000
Series. For black round tube frame LM4000
Series turn push tube approximately 5
complete turns counter-clockwise.
7. Remove clevis pin from push tube, firmly
grasp push tube, push up switch on hand wand
until hole on push tube aligns with hole in
recline bar.
8. Replace clevis pin through recline bar
and push tube.

MOTOR INSTALLATION (Delta Drive)
Chairs Mfg.:
From May 1997 to Current
PREPARATION
STEPS
1) Inspect
motor for 2 key areas;
A) Forkhead is fully tighten to
aluminum tube
B) Turn aluminum tube counter
clockwise to tighten and then turn clockwise
one complete turn to set motor.
2) Make sure chair is on side, with hand
wand side up, and in full recline position.
INSTALLATION
STEPS:
Use only
supplied 2 1/2" Clevis or Grade 8 Bolt
1) Transformer
and plug connection on the left side of
motor, (downward) install lower motor to
base with the 1 5/8" clevis pin (lock
in with hitch pin).
2) Plug in the new motor, connect hand wand
cord connection, run motor in up position to
expose the aluminum tube about 3" to
4".
3) Use only 3/8 clevis pin supplied, or the
3/8 bolt, grade 8 only, gold color, insert
through motor bracket with nylon washers
(ref. Diagram
B. Lock in with hitch pin, or 3/8 nut
to go with 3/8 bolt (ref. Diagram B).
4) Hand wand steps, diagram C
A. Run cord over top of motor, lock
cord with loop through rubber restraint
devise on side of transformer (ref. Dia. C)
B. Run hand wand through pocket
C. Coils start at bottom edge of
pocket. Exceptions: 751 Regals, Extra Wide
chairs adjust as necessary.
D. Clamp cord to bottom of arm.
E. Measure 12" of coil cord
below hand wand and hold at this point, then
pull to quick release clamp and lock in.
F. Staple pocket.
5) Tywrap AC power cord to lower base and
Tywrap hand control cord to U Bar as in
(Diagram C, about half way) make sure there
is slack in hand wand straight cord.
6) Set chair upright and ride chair through
2 full cycles for proper functioning.

| PREPARATION
FOR DUAL MOTOR
1. If possible,
raise chair, to lift position to
approximately half way or more.
2. Unplug chair from receptacle.
3. Push chair forward on its footboard.
4. Disconnect motors from each other and
disconnect motor pig tail from extension.
5. Disconnect push tubes from top part of
lift frame.
6. While supporting motor, remove hair pin
and clevis pin at rear of motor and frame.
Repeat for second motor.
Installation
1. Standing
behind the chair, align motor with power
cord to left side of lift frame, replace
clevis pin through lift frame and gear
casing of motor, insert hair pin to lock
clevis pin into place.
2. Install second motor to the right in the
same manner.
3. Connect motors together by plugging 6 pin
connectors together.
4. Then plug 4 pin connector off right motor
to 4 pin connector on the lift frame (The
Extension).
5. Using a dowel rod approximately 3/8 x 16
inches long, insert it through both push
tubes.
6. By holding rod between motors run motors
down first by pushing down button on hand
control.
7. If motors don’t move or run down, press
up for 5 seconds then push down on
controller till motors shut off.
8. Remove rod from push tubes, insert clevis
pin into the left motor assembly.
9. Turn push tube down clockwise until the
worm gear inside the push tube bumps the
clevis pin. Then STOP!
10. Now turn the push tube counter clockwise
4 complete turns.
11. Repeat numbers 8 through 10 for the
right side motor.
12. Remove clevis pin from right motor,
reinsert 3/8 x 16 inch rod through right and
left motor push tubes.
13. Holding rod between both motor
assemblies push up on the hand wand
extending push tubes out until they meet up
with the top piece assembly of the lift
frame.
14. Remove the 3/8 x 16 inch rod from both
push tubes.
15. Working with left motor first (Master
Motor) reinsert clevis pin and nylon spacers
back into the top piece and push tube of
lift frame. Insert hair pin to lock clevis
pin.
16. Go to right motor (Slave Motor) align
clevis pin and nylon spacers with motor push
tube and insert clevis pin through. Lock in
clevis pin with hair pin.
Please
Note:
You may run into trouble aligning the clevis
pin through the left motor. It may be
necessary to turn that push tube clockwise
or counter clockwise.
